Clinton vs Obama - Tonight’s Debate
Thursday, January 31st, 2008Tonight’s CNN hosted Democratic debate is destined to be interesting, if for nothing else than this is history in the making. While the debate will be a new bookmark in history, it needs to be more than that. The debate needs to bring the focus back onto the issues that face the nation. What can Clinton or Obama do for our economy; for our national security; for the faults of the financial institutions and their poor lending policies respective to housing; what about our trade deficit with China? As voters we need to know what they are really going to do for us that the Republicans can’t.
It would be in Clinton’s best interest to keep the debate positive and focus on the issues and her strengths as a Senator and candidate for President. As we have seen over the last few weeks, the negative attacks only seem to benefit Obama and hurt Clinton. Obama probably needs to keep the negative attacks going — why — because Obama lacks experience compared to Clinton as well as exposure to the White House that Clinton has. Even though the negative attacks may benefit Obama, it would be great to see the debate stay positive.
Who will win this and possibly run away with the upcoming Super Tuesday elections? We’ll know in a few hours.
