Obama Leads Clinton in Popular Vote, Barely.

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

As the debate rages on about Michigan and Florida’s votes, Take Back Politics has been plugging for weeks that we should just be having a popular vote for the Presidential nominee.  While Obama leads Clinton by just under 100 pledged delegates, Clinton has virtually closed the gap when it comes to the popular vote.  As always, we include Michigan and Florida in our count, because they should count without having to revote. The two candidates are only separated by 0.000681822%.

The current standings in the popular vote tally are:

  1. Obama - 12,913,201 votes (including the “uncommitted” votes from Michigan
  2. Clinton - 12,895,604 votes

Huckabee Gracefully Bows Out, Offers Support to McCain

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

This evening after the polls closed, and it was apparent that John McCain had secured the Republican nomination for President, Mike Huckabee announced that he would be stepping aside and offering his support to McCain. While Huckabee deserves credit for the race he has run, and coming from almost no where to be the second to last one standing on the Republican side, it is great to see him recognize that it is time to step aside.

Mike — congratulations on your success in this Presidential race. While so many people turn negative when they are down, you stayed strong and committed to your principles and ran a great campaign. Hopefully good things will come your way down the line.

Should Clinton Quit?

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Obama’s campaign would like to see Clinton bow out after today’s elections if she does not win.  The question is, should she?  While she may be one hundred delegates behind there is still the issue of Florida and Michigan.  Also, you have issues like Nevada giving certain caucuses more weight than others.

As long as the Democratic race is so close, and there are outstanding issues like those above, Clinton really should stay in the race.  After all, she is in a much better position than Huckabee and he is still in the race.
